What is CareerCamp Online?

CareerCamp Online is an unconference in the style of BarCamp, PodCamp and other “camp-like” unconferences. All attendees are highly encouraged to also give a presentation and, at the very least, participate in the conversation.

CareerCamp Online seeks to provide the best and most current career information possible , especially in light of the economic downturn and the large number of layoffs.

Since career problems effect everyone regardless of geographic boundaries, I decided to opt for an online version of CareerCamp so that as many people as possible could participate.

When is CareerCamp Online?

CareerCamp Online is tentatively scheduled for February 21-March1.

I decided on a week-long camp to give everyone a possibility to participate, although I hope the conversation will continue long after the official end of the camp.

Who is invited?

Anyone who is interested on building (or rebuilding) their career is invited to CareerCamp Online.

I will also personally be inviting career specialists from all over the world to participate and share their expertise.

Sponsorship is greatly appreciated in the form of merchandise and service giveaways that can be distributed to the attendees.

If you are interested in attending or presenting at CareerCamp Online 2009, please join the planning discussion on the Career Opportunities Community site at http://careercommunity.welchwrite.com . This site will also be the home for CareerCamp Online.

I am thinking that having people post their presentations in video or audio format and embedding them in a forum post is the best way to do it. Thought? Text presentations and Powerpoints would also work.

Doug,
Great idea for this virtual session. I have my presentation done already and would like to share it with our community. I presented the topic: HOW PREMIUM PODCASTS CAN DRIVE REVENUE AND PASSIVE INCOME for the Social Media Telesummit (which was a premium event for a fee). However, as the presenter of this topic, I have the right to repurpose it at this venue. I also have the slides for it (a pdf file with PPT charts). I agree that this could be something that the audience could consume in a time-shifted manner and get the audio/slides at their leisure.
I am also ready to help aspiring podcasters...I presented PODCASTING 101 for BEGINNERS at the Podcamp in San Antonio late last year, and I did record this, as well. I would be willing to do either a live presentation or just post this--or both.
The purpose for this is to SHARE with the community because we are part of the community, and that is what gives the community its strength.
As you know, Doug, I have NINE PODCASTS, ranging from cultural/entertainment, educational, business, community-service and audio narration of books. I would like to give back, and having known you for the past 2 years, I feel that this venue would be a great place to do so and grow the community.
Let me know,
Fred Castaneda
